“The heavens were made by the word of the Lord, and all the stars, by the breath of his mouth. He gathers the water of the sea into a heap; he puts the depths into storehouses. Let the whole earth fear the Lord; let all the inhabitants of the world stand in awe of him. For he spoke, and it came into being; he commanded, and it came into existence” (Psalm 33:6-9).

I’ve been feeling a little overwhelmed lately. Life has been a lot.
My small, simple soul longs for the reassurance that I have a loving, limitless God—one who is greater than anything I face in this world.
I don’t have to look far.
I find it in a sunset. I see it in the field, and trees, and blue sky (finally!) that stretch out from my back door. I meet it in the words of a friend and the encouragement of her prayers.
And always—always—I find it in God’s word. Those God-breathed words that humans penned under His divine instruction and the Holy Spirit now brings to life in my heart.
Countless verses declare the greatness of God. They anchor us in the knowledge that He is bigger than absolutely anything life throws our way.
Consider this hymn of praise found in Psalms.
My friend, how great is our God!
Our small, simple souls can take heart in knowing that even when we feel overwhelmed, we will be okay, because our God is powerful, limitless, and more than able to handle every situation we face.
So if you are feeling overwhelmed and small today, I invite you to find a verse that speaks to your heart about the bigness of our God. (Or, feel free to borrow mine!)
Then, simply let your soul rest in the shelter of our loving, limitless God.
Until next time,
Shelby
