When Life Feels Unsettled

Matthew 7:24-27: “And the rain fell, and the floods came, and the winds blew and beat on that house, but it did not fall, because it had been founded on the rock.”

I’ve been waking up feeling off-kilter lately.

I find myself caught in a strange season.  It is filled with emotional highs and lows, a strange mingling of expectation and heartache that leaves me feeling slightly unsettled and off-center.

It’s as if I don’t know how to feel.

When life is chaotic, when there are as many ups and downs as a roller coaster ride, it can be hard to keep our feet under us. It is then we need to make sure our life is built on the Rock.

Matthew 7:24-27 tells us, “And the rain fell, and the floods came, and the winds blew and beat on that house, but it did not fall, because it had been founded on the rock.”

Friend, only Jesus can be our rock. He alone never changes, never fails, never abandons us, never lets us down.

When Jesus is our rock, we are not only eternally secure, but we are daily secure.

When Jesus is our rock, our up-and-down emotions do not define our reality.

When Jesus is our rock, fleeting good moments do not become our only sources of hope and joy.

When Jesus is our rock, the bad things happening do not have the power to knock us down.

Friend, let’s place our feet firmly on the Rock that is Jesus.  When the ups and downs have left us dizzy, when life feels like shifting sand, Jesus remains solid and steady.  And if we have build our faith on that Rock, we too will stand firm, no matter what life sends our way.

Until next time,

Shelby

This is what God wanted me to hear today. I have been unsettled and felt rejected all morning, but He IS my rock and doesn’t reject me I am thankful for your words today!
