“And the Word became flesh and dwelt among us, and we have seen his glory, glory as of the only Son from the Father, full of grace and truth” (John 1:14, emphasis added).

As we prepare to step into the New Year, I have been reflecting on how Jesus stepped into our world.
He humbled Himself, hiding His glory beneath human flesh, to enter into our reality. He stepped into our mess to live as we live, suffer as we suffer, and mourn as we mourn.
He ate with outcasts, touched the unclean, made the overlooked feel seen, and unleashed the potential of ordinary people.
He saw our desperate state, how we were harassed and helpless, and He was moved with great compassion (Matthew 9:35).
And He calls us, friend, to be like Him.
He calls us to do as He did. To share the meal. To listen to the voice longing to be heard. To take the hand of the lonely and speak comfort to the broken.
Yes, He calls us to step into the messy lives of those around us and leave trails of His glory everywhere we go.
So let’s ask ourselves, as we step into 2025, into whose lives can we step this year?
Until next time,
Shelby
