Joshua 1:9: Be strong and courageous. Do not be afraid; do not be discouraged, for the Lord your God will be with you wherever you go.

My small, simple soul fears awkwardness.
Today I embraced awkwardness. Dove in and swam around in it for a while.
I felt called to offer something to an almost-friend that I felt she needed. But I was fearful I was over-stepping or might seem too eager to help.
She accepted with gratitude.
I tried to minimize the awkwardness and offered a drop and dash approach. But she insisted I come in.
She was ever-so-gracious, but I sat for a while in the awkwardness of not knowing if I was actually intruding or making things harder for her.
She shared a little of her heart and shed a few of her tears, and they washed away the awkwardness. I hugged her and told her I loved her (which may have truly been awkward for her) and went on my way.
And I felt happy. And lighter. And just a little bit braver.
My friend, if we have given our hearts to Jesus, we can be sure that He goes with us wherever we go.
So don’t fear the awkward. Dive right in!
After all, it’s not about us. It’s only and ever about Jesus.
Until next time,
Shelby
