Matthew 4:19: And he said to them, “Follow me, and I will make you fishers of men.”

As the owner of a small, simple soul, I often write of how God is able to use us right where we are, in the hundred tiny details of our everyday lives.
But as the owner of a small, simple soul, I also recognize that we serve a loving, limitless God who isn’t afraid to challenge our often self-imposed limits.
When we make a choice to follow Jesus, we choose to listen to His voice. Matthew 4:19 says, “And he said to them, ‘Follow me, and I will make you fishers of men.’”
Those simple fishermen dropped what they knew, left what was comfortable, and boldly followed Jesus.
There are times when Jesus has called me out of my own comfort zone.
I followed His voice and found myself traveling to East Asia. I wasn’t one of the speakers, and it was challenging for me to meet and engage with strangers. But in a small coffee shop with two other women, I was able to speak encouraging words to a weary partner in God’s work.
I followed His voice again and found myself leading a discipleship group. Together we dig into God’s Word. We encourage and challenge one another.
Perhaps these aren’t earth-shattering contributions, but they are my contributions. They are the places to which Jesus has led me.
So if you are feeling called out of your comfort zone, take heart. Join me in letting your small, simple soul take a step of faith.
Jesus is leading the way, and He knows just how to use our unique gifts. After all, He gave them to us. We need simply be willing to follow.
Until next time,
Shelby
