I Will Cast My Crown

“The twenty-four elders fall down before him who is seated on the throne and worship him who lives forever and ever. They cast their crowns before the throne, saying, ‘Worthy are you, our Lord and God, to receive glory and honor and power, for you  created all things, and by your will they existed and were created” (Revelation 4:10).

We are all given gifts from God.  All of us.

If you struggle with this, if you look at the “lists” of spiritual gifts and despair that you don’t seem to be represented, you are not alone.

It took me years to figure out how “curiosity and a love of learning” could possible be spiritual gifts! I mean, let’s be honest…have you ever seen those traits on a spiritual gifts inventory? The just don’t have the same spiritual ring as “hospitality” or “prophecy.”

But God used decades—literal decades!—of experiences to lead me to a place where I finally realized that the traits with which He created me turn into spiritual gifts when I cast them at His feet in an act of worship.

Friend, when we surrender right back to God the very way He made us as an act of worship—because it’s all we really have to offer—He uses it. Isn’t that beautiful?!

So if you you are an amazing cook, join a meal train. Cast your gift at His feet!

If you create beauty with art or with words, try creating an uplifting piece for someone who needs hope.  Cast it at His feet!

If you know how to listen, really listen to others, sit with the person who is hurting and let them be heard.  Cast it at His feet!

God made you the way you are, and all of His works are wonderful! (Psalm 139:14). So let’s trust Him with ourselves.  Let’s cast ourselves at His feet, offering our small, simple souls to our loving, limitless God.  And let’s see just what He can do with our gifts.

Until next time,

Shelby
