Seen As We Were Meant to Be.

“But the Lord said to Samuel, “Do not look on his appearance or on the height of his stature, because I have rejected him. For the Lord sees not as man sees: man looks on the outward appearance, but the Lord looks on the heart” (1 Samuel 16:7).

Do you ever find  yourself wondering how God could possibly pursue a small, simple soul like yours?  Do you feel like you are too small or too disqualified for His love?

Never, dear one.

Consider this.

There was a shepherd boy, so insignificant his father didn’t even bother to call him in from the fields when a prophet asked the man to speak to all his sons.  His name was David, and God pursued him and chose him to be king.

There was a woman, shunned by her village for her promiscuous choices.  Jesus chose this woman, mired in loneliness and the consequences of her sin, to be the first to whom he openly identified Himself as Messiah.  And He used her testimony to reach her village.

There was another young boy, who offered all he had—5 loaves and 2 fish, the food of the poor—to try to help feed a hungry crowd.  Jesus didn’t laugh.  He accepted what the child offered, blessed it, and used it to perform a miracle recorded in the Bible for all of humanity to read.

God doesn’t see us the way the world sees us. He sees our hearts. He sees our need.  He sees who we were meant to be in Him. And in Him you are never not enough.

Until next time,

Shelby
